Frequently asked questions
Do I need to give my name or contact details to see quotes?
No. To get quotes, the tool only asks for your gender, birth date, current health level, tobacco history, how much coverage you want, and which term length interests you. Those six answers are what carriers need to return their rates. Information like your name, address, and detailed health records are only needed if you decide to apply.
Are the monthly prices shown the price I will pay?
They are rates that each carrier is quoting based on the health class you selected in the tool. The quoted prices are informational only. After you apply, the carrier conducts underwriting and may confirm, improve, or adjust your rate class. The final price you pay is determined by underwriting, not this website. This site makes no promises about pricing or coverage.
What happens when I click Apply?
You continue into a secure application on the carriers' platform, prefilled with the answers you entered. The application stays on the carriers' secure system and is handled by Susman Insurance Agency, a licensed California insurance agency. You can pause and return later if needed. You will sign your application electronically.
Will I need a medical exam?
It depends on the carrier, the amount you're applying for, and your answers. Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting for qualified applicants, which can result in a decision without an exam. Each quote on this site indicates whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not needed for that specific product.
Is a longer term better?
A term should cover the years when losing your income would hurt your household most—your mortgage, children living at home, business obligations. Longer terms lock in your rate for more years, which costs more each month but protects you if your health changes. This tool lets you compare 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30-year terms side by side to see what fits your situation.
Does this site sell my information?
No. The quote tool doesn't ask for contact information, we don't sell or share any data with third parties, and the measurement we collect is cookieless and private. Check the privacy page for the exact details of what is collected and who collects it.
