No-exam life insurance
Who can qualify for fast-track decisions, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now use accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and benefit ranges, they decide based on your application, prescription records, driving history, and other data, skipping the physical exam. Decisions often come back within hours. Each quote on this site says whether an exam is required, might be required, or isn't needed for that specific offer.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting doesn't skip underwriting—it just changes the method. Your answers get verified, and a policy issued on false information can be challenged during the first two years. If the carrier's data raises questions, they may still ask for exams or testing; you can choose to continue or stop.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants who are under about 60, seeking amounts within the carrier's fast-track limit, with no major health conditions and no tobacco use in the last 12 months or so. Some carriers will take recent blood work from your doctor instead of scheduling a new exam.
If an exam is needed, it typically takes 20 to 30 minutes and happens at your home or workplace in the Eureka area, at no charge. For people in good health, exam results often lead to a better rate class, so an exam isn't necessarily bad news.
